Our Supported Accommodation Solutions are based on the principles of Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE). Through our service, we will create an enabling environment for young people to make changes to their lives by helping them to develop emotional and social intelligence that they would need to effect positive changes in their own lives. 

Our psychological responses to their needs will give them the enablement to acquire personal ability to manage their individual risk behaviours. We recognise that the service users will often have particular support needs that could have arisen from past traumatic experience of abuse, abandonment, homelessness, etc. 

As a result, our approach is to address these needs through clear and consistent responses that first of all empowers the individual young persons to start learning to trust again. We believe most of the chaotic behaviours exhibited by young people is their own way of communicating their needs; and the ability to interpret what they are communicating through their risk behaviours will determine how they can be supported to make changes to their own lives that will result in positive outcomes. 

This approach allows us to develop in-depth insight into how the young people will behave and therefore risk manage and risk assess appropriately. As a result, we will be able to effectively work with the young people who often behave chaotically to gain better understanding of their own behaviour.  This will enable them to take responsibility for themselves to develop negotiated positive relationships that will empower them to start moving away from their chaotic and risky behaviours. 

By being tolerant of their risk taking nature we are more able to tackle their negative behaviours creatively and with better flexibility without alienating or rejecting the young people. We will work with them with elastic tolerance of their risk taking behaviours until they have mastered the capacity to change from such behaviours.
